JACKSON LEWIS LLP:Jackson Lewis Expands Employee Benefits Practice with Addition of Michael Taibleson

Jackson Lewis LLP issued the following announcement on Jan. 11.

Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce Michael W. Taibleson has joined the firm’s Milwaukee office as a Principal. Mr. Taibleson, who joins the firm from Husch Blackwell, has almost 30 years of experience advising clients on compensation and benefits matters.

“Michael has worked in both law firms and accounting firms, adding a unique perspective to our burgeoning employee benefits team,” said Joy M. Napier-Joyce, Leader of the firm’s Employee Benefits Practice Group. “We welcome Michael to our team, and we are pleased that the group continues to draw accomplished attorneys from across the country.”

Mr. Taibleson focuses his practice on a wide range of employee compensation and benefits matters. He has significant experience advising employers, retirement plan fiduciaries, insurers and plan administrators on strategies for implementing, administering and the remediation of benefit plans for new hires, active employees and retirees. He has in-depth knowledge and experience regarding compensation and benefits that meets the specific needs of clients in the for-profit, nonprofit, governmental, healthcare, and higher education sectors. His experience also includes matters involving litigation and has successfully negotiated numerous favorable settlements of multiemployer pension plan withdrawal liability on behalf of participating employers.

Mr. Taibleson advises clients from various industries on managing employee benefits matters in mergers, acquisitions and bankruptcy. He frequently works with large multinational corporations on issues related to benefits and compensation for expatriates and third-country nationals, including plan design and resolution of technical and tax issues.

Mr. Taibleson earned his B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his J.D. from the Chicago-Kent College of Law at Illinois Institute of Technology.
