GORDON REES LLP: Robert Blanchfield Joins Gordon & Rees as an Attorney in the Nashville, Tennessee Office

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani welcomes Robert Blanchfield as a senior counsel in the firm's Nashville, Tennessee office. Blanchfield is a member of the firm's Employment law, Labor, Commercial Litigation, Drug & Medical Device, Tort & Product Liability, Health Care and Trucking & Transportation practice groups.

Prior to practicing law, Blanchfield worked as an economist for the U.S. Department of Labor analyzing domestic and international labor markets and other factors affecting the volume and sales of automobiles and other products. Blanchfield applies that experience in his law practice representing businesses in a wide variety of industries. In 15 years of private practice, Blanchfield has represented more than 250 businesses in employment, labor, products liability, tort, franchise and commercial litigation before administrative agencies and in state and federal courts. This has also included significant collective bargaining and arbitration experience.

In his employment practice, Blanchfield regularly advises businesses regarding wage & hour, EEO, on-boarding, discipline, termination, compensation, performance measures, reductions in force, drug testing, EAP programs and workplace safety. As part of this work, he is often called upon to provide training on EEO and related topics. Blanchfield also represents businesses in EEOC, State Departments of Revenue, DOL, OSHA and other state and federal investigations and audits. He often drafts and negotiates independent contractor, non-compete, confidentiality, employment, NDAs, severance, licensing, sales, purchasing, and other agreements for employers.

Having previously worked as in-house counsel for an international manufacturer of powered wheelchairs, Blanchfield has managed products liability litigation in more than 20 states. As part of that work, he also gained significant experience in the areas of corporate, mergers & acquisitions, compliance and regulatory matters.

Blanchfield is admitted to practice in Florida, Tennessee and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit. He is a member of the American Bar Association and Bar Associations in Tennessee, Florida and Nashville. He has served as a volunteer attorney for Access Justice (TN) since 2012.

Blanchfield earned his law degree from Rutgers Law School, his master's degree from the University of Virginia and his undergraduate degree from The University of Alabama.
