Partnership

Fox Rothschild LLP issued the following announcement on Jan. 4.

Fox Rothschild LLP congratulates Christopher P. Beall and Maritza Dominguez Braswell, who were selected to join the administration of incoming Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser.

Beall will serve as Deputy Attorney General for Business and Licensing and Braswell as Deputy Attorney General for Civil Litigation and Employment Law.

“We will miss seeing Chris and Maritza in the office every day, but we are thrilled for them to seize this exciting career opportunity,” said Rick J. Rubin, Office Managing Partner of Fox’s Denver office.

Attorney General-Elect Weiser, who will be sworn in on January 8, 2019, provided the following statement:

“I am delighted that these individuals have agreed to fill critical leadership posts in my administration. Together, we will begin the important work on Day One of ensuring a smooth transition and working tirelessly with an impressive team of dedicated professionals in the office to defend our freedoms, fight for opportunities for all, and protect our land, air, and water. I appreciate their willingness to serve our state and thank the Transition Team that worked hard to recruit them.”

Beall, a partner at Fox, is an accomplished trial attorney whose work at the firm centers on representing news, publishing, entertainment and other media clients in intellectual property matters, as well as traditional media tort defense and First Amendment access and civil rights issues. He has litigated copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, libel and civil rights cases in federal and state courts throughout the country.

“Fox Rothschild’s Intellectual Property Department has grown significantly in recent years, and Chris has been a key contributor to that growth. Chris has long been interested in public service, and he will bring a strong skill set to this important role,” said James M. Singer, chair of Fox’s nationwide Intellectual Property Department.

Beall earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from Duke University School of Law and his B.A. from Yale University.

Braswell joined Fox in 2018 as a partner through a merger with the commercial litigation firm of Rollin Braswell Fisher LLC, of which she was a founding member. A trial lawyer, she focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation across multiple industries, including the financial services, mortgage and mortgage-backed securities, products, and construction sectors.

In her new role, Braswell will be responsible for defending state agencies and institutions of higher education, along with advising and representing the Civil Rights Division, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Corrections, the Department of Public Safety, and the Division of Risk Management.

Braswell earned her J.D. from Rutgers Law School, with honors, and her B.A. from the University of Denver.
