Polsinelli PC issued the following announcement on Oct. 29.

Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli has added John Acierno, an experienced real estate finance attorney known for his counsel to lenders and borrowers in real estate finance transactions across the country.

Acierno joins Polsinelli’s New York City office as Counsel and brings his years of experience to clients financing large real estate holdings, including senior mortgage, construction financing, preferred equity and mezzanine lending, and transactions involving EB-5 financing.

“We’re very excited to have John on our team. John has a unique background and skillset that will allow him to immediately add value,” said Financial Services Division Chair John Duncan. “As our national real estate finance work continues to grow, we believe that John is ideally suited to serve as a catalyst in the practice’s continued expansion.”

In addition to his real estate finance capabilities, Acierno also brings extensive experience in counseling financial institutions on a variety of bankruptcy matters, including motions for relief from automatic stay, objections to plan confirmation, cash collateral and post-petition financing issues, valuation hearings, non-discharge ability actions, preference litigation and acquisition of loans in bulk.

Polsinelli has forged a national reputation in real estate finance. The firm regularly represents real estate lending clients, including insurance companies, CMBS lenders, banks and other financial institutions in acquisition, construction, bridge, permanent and mezzanine financing transactions of all sizes and complexities.

The firm’s attorneys and paralegals have documented and closed more than 4,200 commercial mortgage loans exceeding more than $39 billion in principal in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

“It’s a rare opportunity to work for a firm of Polsinelli’s caliber,” Acierno said. “I look forward to collaborating with the team and utilizing Polsinelli’s national platform.”

Acierno obtained a Master of Laws from the University of San Diego School of Law and a J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law after earning a Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, from Wheeling Jesuit University.

Polsinelli’s New York City office puts Acierno in a prime position for his practice, as its attorneys hold special emphases on real estate and financial services, technology, privacy and data security, bankruptcy and intellectual property. The firm’s presence in New York and in Delaware enhances its ability to provide clients with sophisticated, state-of-the-art advice, as well as bankruptcy litigation representation in the two preferred forums for complex Chapter 11 cases at an attractive Midwestern price structure.
