Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP announced that Katherine “Katie” Burrows and Nathanael “Nathan” Hartland have joined the firm as partners in the Baltimore office. The two represent public and private entities in a wide variety of matters related to contracting with the federal and state government, including, but not limited to, compliance, contract claims or disputes, teaming agreements, size certifications, bid protests and other litigation, unique issues on mergers and acquisitions, government leasing, and other procurement policies.
“We welcome Katie and Nathan to the firm and look forward to their leadership in expanding our government contracts team. They will also be a great enhancement to our corporate and government relations work in the region,” said Timothy A. Hodge Jr., managing partner of the Baltimore office.
Burrows counsels and represents government contractors in litigation, Inspector General investigations, alternative dispute resolution, and transactional issues. Her primary focus is on government contracting litigation, including contract claims, disputes between subcontractors and prime contractors, size disputes, claims of tortious interference, and qui tam suits under the Civil False Claims Act. She earned her JD from the University of Baltimore School of Law, magna cum laude, and her bachelor’s from the University of Pennsylvania.
Hartland counsels public and private entities on matters involving government contracts, export control laws, U.S. trade sanctions, regulatory compliance, importing, government leasing and other matters relating to domestic and international commerce. His government contracts and grants clients include major multinational organizations, national and regional enterprises, small businesses, and not-for-profit entities. He earned his JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and his bachelor’s from Johns Hopkins University.
