RICHMOND — A federal agency is suring a Virginia country western dance bar and restaurant for allegedly subjecting a female employee to sexual comments and touching by a male assistant manager.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) alleges NAKI Corporation, doing business as Daisy Dukes & Boots Saloon in Chesterfield, Virginia, failed to stop the sexual harassment of a female employee and then reduced her hours for complaining about the harassment. According to the EEOC, a female employee, along with her other female coworkers, were subjected to groping and propositions for sex by the male assistant manager.

"The EEOC is committed to enforcing the law when employers tolerate this type of sexual harassment in the workplace," said EEOC Charlotte District Office acting regional attorney Kara Haden in a statement. "Employees should not be forced to tolerate sexual harassment in order to keep their jobs."

In its lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia Richmond Division the EEOC says the saloon violated Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and seeks compensatory and punitive damages for the female employees in addition to injunctive relief to prevent future harassment and discrimination.
