Jones Day issued the following announcement on Sept. 17.

Lisa M. Ledbetter, a partner in Jones Day's Washington Office, has been elected Chancellor of the Exchequer Club of Washington, D.C.

The Exchequer Club provides a forum for senior thought-leaders to engage in frank and open sharing of information and opinions on national financial, economic, legal, and political matters. Formed in 1960 by a small group of financial services professionals, the Exchequer Club now has more than 300 members representing financial institutions, trade associations, federal and state regulatory agencies, Congressional committees, law firms, and the national press.

The Exchequer Club's past speakers include Cabinet-level secretaries, chairs and commissioners of Federal regulatory agencies, chairs of Congressional committees, state attorneys general and superintendents, and private business leaders active in shaping the financial services sector.

"I am honored to be elected Chancellor of the Exchequer Club. The Club fosters thought-provoking and cutting-edge discussions that enrich and sharpen the business, regulatory, and economic acumen of the financial services community. It is a privilege to be recognized by my peers to lead the Exchequer Club," Ms. Ledbetter said.

Ms. Ledbetter is a partner in Jones Day's Financial Institutions Litigation & Regulation Practice, which focuses on regulatory counseling, investigations, enforcement, and litigation for financial institution clients around the world. Ms. Ledbetter advises domestic and international financial institutions on commercial and retail regulatory, transactional, and enforcement matters. She counsels banks and nonbank companies on new business models, products, and services, including financial technology.

Ms. Ledbetter is the exclusive recipient of the International Law Office's 2018 Client Choice Award for Banking in Washington, D.C., which is based on outstanding reviews of legal advice and client care by senior corporate counsel, recognizing the ability to add real value to clients' business above and beyond other players in the market.

Ms. Ledbetter is former Deputy General Counsel of Freddie Mac and Deputy Director for Policy Development at the FDIC. She also served as banking and finance counsel at the U.S. Department of the Treasury during the George H.W. Bush administration and as regulatory counsel for the American Bankers Association and Independent Community Bankers of America representing the interests of small, regional, and large banks during the thrift crisis.
