ST. LOUIS (Legal Newsline) – Several individuals are seeking damages from Monsanto over allegations its Roundup is dangerous to human health.

Dorothy Mitchell, Bonnie Parrish, et al. filed a complaint on June 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri against Monsanto Co. alleging strict liability and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs or their decedents were diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma allegedly caused by the use of the defendant's herbicide Roundup. They allege the ingredient glyphosate in Roundup is defective, dangerous to human health and is unfit to be marketed and sold in commerce.

The plaintiffs hold Monsanto Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to adequately investigate and test the safety of ingredients of its product to minimize the dangers to users and consumers, and concealed information concerning the dangerous nature of its product.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment in plaintiffs’ favor for compensatory and punitive damages in an amount of more than $75,000, together with interest, costs and further relief as the court deems just. They are represented by D. Todd Mathews of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Edwardsville, Illinois and Peter A. Miller of Miller Dellafera PLC in Henrico, Virginia.
