DiscoverOrg alleges Netsmartz misappropriated trade secrets

TACOMA, Wash. (Legal Newsline) – An information profiling company alleges a New York company used improper means to access its database.

DiscoverOrg LLC filed a complaint on June 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington at Tacoma against Netsmartz LLC alleging theft of trade secrets, copyright infringement and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff provides information for business-to-business sales and marketing to clients for fee. It alleges that the defendant "stole" access to its information and used it for its own sales and marketing without paying licensing fees.

The plaintiff holds Netsmartz LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly used stolen information for its own financial gain.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for actual, statutory and compensatory damages and unjust enrichment or a reasonably royalty, attorney's fees, costs of suit, interest and other relief as the court may deem just.
