Massachusetts dentist to pay $475,000 for allegations of improperly billing Medicaid

BOSTON (Legal Newsline) — Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey announced Jan. 25 that Newton dentist Dr. Julia Faigel and her 21 corporations will pay a total of $475,000 following allegations of improperly billing the state’s Medicaid system.

 

“This pattern of problematic billing cost MassHealth thousands of dollars and violated state regulations,” Healey said. “This settlement will provide restitution to MassHealth and will ensure that these funds are properly used to benefit its members.”


 

The corporations are Allston Family Dental P.C., Bellingham Family Dental P.C., Broadway Family Dental P.C. in Chelsea, Central Plaza Family Dental P.C. in Lowell, Central Square Family Dental P.C. in Cambridge, Dr. Dental of Boston P.C., Dr. Dental of Endicott Plaza P.C. in Danvers, Dr. Dental of Lowell P.C., Dr. Dental of Methuen P.C., Dr. Dental of New Bedford, P.C., Dr. Dental of Plymouth P.C., Dr. Dental of Quincy P.C., Dr. Dental of Revere P.C., Dr. Dental of Watertown P.C., Rivers Edge Family Dental P.C. in Haverhill, Centre Street Family Dental P.C. in Jamaica Plain, Maverick Family Dental P.C. in East Boston, Julia O. Faigel D.M.D. P.C. doing business as Meridian Family Dental in East Boston, Springfield Family Dental P.C., Water St. Family Dental P.C. in Haverhill and Worcester Family Dental P.C.

 

Assistant Attorney General Matthew Landry, Deputy Chief Steven Hoffman and Investigator April Waterhouse, all of Healey’s Medicaid Fraud Division, handled the case for the state.
