LOS ANGELES (Legal Newsline) — A Los Angeles County man is suing a sports betting tip provider, alleging telephone harassment.
Dave Alan filed a class action lawsuit, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, Aug. 16 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against The Insiders Group Inc. doing business as Bettormoves.com, Fred G. Huber Jr. and Does 1-10, alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
According to the complaint, on March 12, Alan received a text message from defendants on his cellular telephone, offering advertisements and/or promotional offers. The suit says this text caused him to sustain financial damages for charges or reduced cellular telephone time for incoming calls.
The plaintiff alleges the defendants negligently contacted him on his cellular telephone by using an automatic telephone dialing system and without his prior express permission.
Alan seeks trial by jury, statutory damages of $500 for each and every violation, injunctive relief prohibiting such conduct in the future by the defendants, and all other relief the court deems proper. He is represented by attorneys Todd M. Friedman, Meghan E. George and Adrian R. Bacon of The Law Office of Todd M. Friedman PC in Beverly Hills.
