California consumer accuses market research firm of invading privacy

Phone 01

LOS ANGELES (Legal Newsline) — A Los Angeles man is suing a market research firm, alleging it has constantly harassed him with phone calls.

Jason Alan filed a class action lawsuit, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, Aug. 3 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Validity Research Inc. and Does 1-10, alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, in February, Alan started receiving calls attempting to solicit Validity's business services. The suit says Alan suffered financial damages for incurring charges for incoming calls.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants made calls using an automatic telephone dialing system, or an artificial or prerecorded voice, and without his prior express consent.

Alan seeks trial by jury, statutory damages of $500 for each and every violation, treble damages of up to $1,500 for each and every violation and all other relief the court deems just and proper. He is represented by attorneys Todd M. Friedman and Adrian R. Bacon of Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman PC in Beverly Hills.
