BOSTON (Legal Newsline) — The Office of Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt has announced that Schmidt was recently elected president-elect of the National Association of Attorneys General.
The professional organization includes all 56 state, territorial and District of Columbia attorneys general and is national and nonpartisan. Schmidt will serve as president-elect for the 2016-17 term and assume the organization’s presidency in June 2017. Attorneys general from the Midwestern region nominated him. Prior to his presidency, Schmidt served as vice president, Midwestern region chair, anti-human trafficking committee vice chair and consumer protection committee co-chair.
Schmidt will guide decision-making for the organization on initiatives related to combating human trafficking, protecting consumer privacy and promoting child safety. His oversight will also include leadership of the organization’s extensive professional education and training opportunities for state attorneys general.
