NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Legal Newsline) – The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced that FYC International Inc. will pay $80,000 and provide other relief to resolve allegations of sexual harassment.

FYC International is a manufacturer and wholesaler of women’s and children’s clothing, but it is no longer in operation. EEOC alleged that before it closed, its warehouse manager would subject female employees to inappropriate sexual comments, gestures, propositions and physical touching. Additionally, the manager purportedly offered money in exchange for sex.

Alleged conduct of this nature violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

"We are pleased to have had the opportunity to partner with New Haven Legal Assistance to bring appropriate relief to the charging parties for the harassment they suffered at the hands of the warehouse manager," EEOC Trial Attorney Jadhira Rivera said.

The $80,000 settlement will be split between three charging parties. FYC will also have to implement new policies to prevent future discrimination it ever reopens.

“We appreciate FYC's willingness to provide appropriate relief to the charging parties and to institute appropriate mechanisms to ensure that discrimination does not persist in the workplace should the company re-emerge," EEOC New York District Director Kevin Berry said.
