JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Legal Newsline) - DEW D Services, LLC will pay a settlement to Missouri after the health care provider allegedly submitted false claims to the state's Medicaid program, Attorney General Chris Koster said on Wednesday.
DEW D, which is owned by Diana Washington and Vonnetta Eiland, will pay $150,000 for civil penalties, restitution and the cost of the investigation.
The in-home health care provider allegedly had incongruities in its billing, billed for services that were never provided and failed to provide proper documentation for Medicaid claims. In several cases, the company allegedly billed for services while the patients were actually hospitalized.
MOHealthNet, the state's Medicaid program, reimbursed the company and its owners $13,672 for the claims.
"My office will continue to vigorously investigate allegations of Medicaid fraud and to return scarce health care dollars to Missouri," Koster said.
The MOHealthNet Fraud Reimbursement Fund will receive $132,855 from the settlement and $5,000 will go to the MOHealthNet Fraud Prosecution Revolving Fund.
As part of the deal, DEW D will also have to institute new billing policies to increase oversight.
