JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Legal Newsline) - Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster sued Abelard Construction Missouri, LLC., on Monday after it allegedly violated Missouri’s No Call Law.

The St. Louis-based company is a franchise of Abelard Construction, a home repair retailer with locations in several states.

In July 2013, Abelard Construction Missouri made telemarketing calls to St. Charles County consumers to offer home repairs. After some call recipients informed the company's employees that they were on the state's No Call List, the callers allegedly lied and said their names were not showing up on the list.

“Missourians who place their numbers on the No Call registry should expect that solicitors will respect their request for privacy,” Koster said. “This company illegally called consumers who had registered with the No Call list, and then blatantly lied to those consumers, stating untruthfully that their telephone numbers were not registered on the list.”

As part of the suit, the Attorney General’s Office is asking for $5,000 for each violation of the No Call List, as well as restitution for the cost of its investigation and an injunction to prohibit Abelard Construction Missouri from making further telemarketing calls in the state.
