Van Hollen
MADISON, Wis. (Legal Newsline) -- Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen has filed an enforcement action against a vacuum dealership over allegations it violated the state's do-not-call laws.
ACT Distributing Inc., doing business under the name Kirby of Madison, is charged with callings thousands of state residents registered on the do-not-call list in an attempt to sell its Kirby vacuums and cleaning goods. Van Hollen's complaint also alleges that the company did not register with the state as required of all telephone solicitors.
"The no-call law is simple and straightforward, and there is no excuse for deliberately ignoring it," Van Hollen said.
The Department of Justice filed an enforcement action against the company after complaints were received by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, which investigated the matter.
Van Hollen's enforcement actions asks the court to impose forfeitures against the company for its no-call violations and requests that ACT Distributing be barred from further illegal telemarketing activities.
