Gansler issues cease-and-desist order to agricultural salesman

Douglas Gansler (D)

BALTIMORE (Legal Newsline) -- Maryland Attorney General Douglas Gansler has issued a cease-and-desist order to a man accused of failing to complete the renovation of several poultry houses across the state.

According to Gansler, Kenneth F. Reed violated the Maryland Consumer Protection act when he sold agricultural improvement goods and services but then failed to complete the projects.

He allegedly owes at least two customers $73,035.44 and has been ordered to stop selling his goods and services until he returns the money and provides the Consumer Protection Division a $100,000 surety bond.

"Mr. Reed has been ordered to return the monies he took for services he did not perform. He has also been ordered to be bonded before offering his services in the future," the Democratic attorney general said.

Reed has 30 days to request a hearing to challenge Gansler's order.
