Cooper
RALEIGH, N.C. (Legal Newsline) - North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper is holding his 20-point lead in his bid to retain his seat against Republican challenger Bob Crumley.
With 50 percent of precincts reporting, Cooper is leading Crumley 61 percent (2,021,291) to 39 percent (1,311,046). Polls in the state closed at 7:30 p.m. and more than 3.3 million votes have been counted.
Cooper is seeking his third term. He famously dropped the rape case against Duke University lacrosse players in 2007 after taking over for Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong.
