The state of Illinois filed a lawsuit against Kensington Service Group, Inc., a Chicago mergers and acquisitions company, on Wednesday alleging the company violated telemarketing laws by calling consumers on the National Do Not Call Registry.

Attorney General Lisa Madigan has received more than 50 complaints from consumers about telemarketing calls from the company since 2012.

The state is seeking an injunction prohibiting Kensington from committing additional violations; damages in the amount of $500 to $1,500 for each violation; and all legal costs and other relief.

The state is represented by Thomas James, of Chicago, and Philip Heimlich, of Springfield, Illinois.
