A man sued a Pennsylvania debt collector and its attorney on Tuesday for alleged fraudulent collection practices.
Lloyd Grundy alleged in the suit that Remit Corporation and attorney Raymond W. Kessler engaged in false and misleading practices related to the plaintiff’s debts.
On Feb. 3, 2014, the defendants filed a complaint against Grundy in a Delaware County, Pennsylvania court to collect a credit card debt owed to Citibank (South Dakota) National Association. The amount in question, including interest and fees, was more than $15,000.
Grundy alleged in the suit that Remit and Kessler failed to follow proper debt collection practices as identified under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
The plaintiff is seeking compensation for emotional distress, actual damages, $1,000 in statutory damages, and attorney’s fees and costs.
