Kent State settles injury lawsuit with student for $50,000
Kent State University has settled a lawsuit with a student who was injured while hurrying to her dormitory mail room. The incident occurred on March 17, 2023, when Maeve Grennan left her part-time job at the university’s Student Recreation and Wellness Center to pick up a package of Irish soda bread sent by her mother. Grennan aimed to retrieve the package before the mail room closed at 8 p.m., as it was her last opportunity before the weekend.

Chicago – Attorney General Kwame Raoul, as part of a coalition of 23 attorneys general, is defending a rule issued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) to implement the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) of 2022. The PWFA is a landmark federal law that requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations for pregnant and postpartum employees. The EEOC rule would require employers to provide reasonable accommodations for a broad range of conditions related to pregnancy and childbirth, including an employee’s decision to terminate a pregnancy.
