AG Nessel partners with NLRB to enhance worker protections
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has announced a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) Regional Directors from Board Regions 7-Detroit and 18-Minneapolis to strengthen worker protections. This agreement enables the Department of Attorney General and NLRB’s Detroit and Minneapolis regions to collaborate more closely by sharing information, conducting cross-training for staff, and partnering on investigative efforts within each agency’s authority to more effectively enforce the National Labor Relations Act and the state laws of Michigan. -

Livonia man pleads guilty to cold-case sexual assault at Western Michigan University
LANSING – On Friday, Cameron Alvarez, 34, of Livonia, pled guilty to two counts of First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct in the 9th Circuit Court in Kalamazoo. This cold-case prosecution was part of the Kalamazoo County Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI), announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. AG Nessel extends Kroger opioid settlement sign-on deadline
The deadline for counties and local municipalities to register for payments from the $1.2 billion national Kroger settlement has been extended to Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel urges local governments that have not yet enrolled in the settlement to complete and submit their participation paperwork by this new deadline. Local Michigan governments and the state will receive approximately $42 million from this settlement over an 11-year period to aid in their efforts to combat the opioid crisis. -
Detroit woman sentenced for unlicensed real estate and accounting operations
Krystal Davis, 37, of Detroit, was sentenced to two years' probation by Judge Bradley L. Cobb in the Third Circuit Court in Wayne County for operating as an unlicensed real estate agent and accountant. The announcement was made by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Michigan AG files notice following SCOTUS ruling on mifepristone access
Today, in response to a lawsuit filed by Right to Life of Michigan and other anti-choice organizations and advocates, the Michigan Department of Attorney General filed a Notice of Supplemental Authority alerting the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan to a recent decision by the U.S. Supreme Court rejecting certain plaintiffs’ standing to challenge regulations on mifepristone. The notice was filed after the briefing on the Defendants’ motion to dismiss concluded in April. The Right to Life lawsuit seeks to strike down the right to reproductive freedom. -
Director pleads guilty to unauthorized practice as health professional
LANSING – On Tuesday, Kimberly Coden, 38, of Berkley, pled guilty in the 44th Circuit Court in Livingston County before Judge Suzanne Geddis to multiple felonies related to impersonating a health care professional and witness intimidation, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Canton Residents Charged with Defrauding Amazon of Over $200,000

Ecorse man charged for selling stolen Home Depot rental equipment
Jonathan Allen, 33, of Ecorse, was arraigned yesterday before Magistrate Steven R. LANSING – In the 54A District Court in Lansing, Judge Kristen Simmons has bound Sandy Baxter, 64, of Caledonia, over to stand trial in the 30th Circuit Court in Ingham County. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced that Baxter was charged in February with one count of perjury, a 15-year felony, for allegedly lying under oath during testimony to state prosecutors and special agents investigating a fundraising scheme related to the Unlock Michigan ballot question initiative. -
Florida man pleads guilty to criminal enterprise targeting Michigan counties
Juan Miguel Rodriguez-Venegas, 55, of Florida, pled guilty today to one count of Conducting a Criminal Enterprise in the 42nd Circuit Court in Midland County for stealing money orders and cash out of drop boxes at apartment complexes and mobile home parks, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. As part of the plea, Rodriguez-Venegas will pay $36,235 in restitution. -
