Attorney General Kwame Raoul has charged Kyle Ranallo, a resident of Libertyville, Illinois, with multiple counts related to child sexual abuse material. The charges include six Class X felony counts of dissemination and nine Class 2 counts of possession of child pornography. These charges could lead to sentences of up to 30 years and seven years in prison respectively, pending court decisions.
Ranallo was arrested following a search conducted by investigators from Raoul's office and the Illinois State Police at his residence on Mayfair Drive. The arrest was supported by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Libertyville Police Department. He is currently held at Montgomery County Jail, with his next court appearance set for June 13.
Attorney General Raoul emphasized the importance of accountability in these cases: “Predators who share child sexual abuse material must be held accountable so survivors and their family can begin the healing process.” His office will work alongside Montgomery County State’s Attorney Andrew Affrunti’s office in prosecuting this case.
The Illinois Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, which operates under a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, plays a crucial role in investigating such crimes. It collaborates with over 200 law enforcement agencies across local, county, state, and federal levels. In recent years, there has been an increase in CyberTipline reports related to child sexual abuse material.
ISP Director Brendan F. Kelly reiterated their commitment: "Preying on children and youth is a despicable crime and Illinois State Police special agents will continue to work with our law enforcement partners at all levels."
The public is reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
Reports of child sexual exploitation can be submitted online at cybertipline.com or through local resources like childrensadvocacycentersofillinois.org.
Assistant Attorney General Jenifer Peck is handling the prosecution for Raoul’s High Tech Crimes Bureau.
