Attorney General Jason Miyares has won a court decision requiring the AJP Educational Foundation, known as American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), to comply with a Civil Investigative Demand (CID) issued by his office. The CID, initiated in October 2023, is part of an investigation into AMP's compliance with Virginia’s charitable solicitation law and allegations that solicited funds were potentially used to support terrorist organizations.
AMP had resisted the CID, seeking to modify or dismiss it through a petition that was denied by the Richmond City Circuit Court in July 2024. Despite this setback, AMP continued to avoid compliance, prompting the Attorney General to file an enforcement action in January 2025.
The Richmond City Circuit Court has now rejected AMP's attempts to delay accountability during its appeal process and mandated compliance with the CID. AMP operates as a public nonprofit headquartered in Falls Church, Virginia.
The Office of the Attorney General has stated there will be no further comments as the investigation is ongoing.
