U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo has announced that Daniel P. Walsh, a 58-year-old resident of Rochester, New York, has pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography involving prepubescent minors. The plea was entered before U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa and carries a potential maximum sentence of 20 years in prison along with a $250,000 fine.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle P. Rossi is handling the case and stated that Walsh became known to the Rochester Police Department in November 2024 after Google reported an account linked to him for containing child pornography. Following this report, the Rochester Police and FBI executed a search warrant at Walsh's residence, seizing multiple computers and digital devices.
A forensic examination revealed that Walsh had received and possessed over 600 images and videos depicting child pornography. These materials included content showing prepubescent minors engaged in sexual acts with adults and children subjected to violent sexual abuse. It was also found that Walsh had superimposed faces of minors he knew onto these images, making it appear as if they were involved in such acts.
The investigation leading to this plea was conducted by the Rochester Police Department under Chief David Smith's direction and the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force led by Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia.
Walsh's sentencing is set for September 9, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., presided over by Judge Siragusa.
