Attorney General Dave Sunday has initiated legal proceedings against Black Cherry Design, LLP and its owner, Lauren Piasecki. The interior design firm, based in Allegheny County, is accused of not delivering goods and failing to complete contracted projects.

The lawsuit comes after numerous consumer complaints regarding home renovation projects managed by Black Cherry Design and Piasecki. These projects included bathroom remodels and living room redesigns.

The Office of Attorney General aims to secure restitution for affected consumers and seeks to bar Black Cherry Design from accepting advance payments for goods.

“Consumers paid this company large, upfront sums for home design jobs that were never completed,” stated Attorney General Sunday. “Black Cherry Design not only failed to deliver the products ordered — in some cases, they never even ordered the goods paid for in full by the customer.”

The complaint details that consumers designated Black Cherry Design as their purchasing agent. This arrangement required prepayment of invoiced amounts before any purchases were made on behalf of the consumer.

It further alleges that many items invoiced and prepaid by consumers were neither delivered nor ordered.

The lawsuit demands a court declaration that Black Cherry Design, LLP and Piasecki violated the Consumer Protection Law. It also seeks restitution for impacted consumers and a prohibition on future prepayments or sales by the company.

Victims of Black Cherry Designs or Lauren Piasecki are encouraged to file a complaint online or contact the Bureau of Consumer Protection at 1-800-441-2555.

Deputy Attorney General Jaimie George filed this lawsuit in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County.
