Joseph Charles Riddle, a resident of Muldrow, Oklahoma, has entered a guilty plea to federal firearm charges in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. The charges include one count of Felon in Possession of Ammunition and one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition. Each charge carries a potential sentence of up to 15 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.
According to the indictment, Riddle was found in possession of various types of ammunition on January 6, 2025. Specifically, he had one round of .45ACP caliber ammunition, 18 rounds of .380ACP caliber ammunition, and one round of .22 caliber ammunition. These possessions occurred after Riddle had been previously convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year imprisonment.
Further allegations state that between January 17, 2024, and August 2024, Riddle possessed several firearms including a .22 caliber pump action rifle, a 12-gauge pump action shotgun, and a 6.5 Creedmoor caliber bolt action rifle. Additionally, he was found with 15 rounds of 6.5 Creedmoor caliber ammunition during this period.
The investigation leading to these charges was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives alongside the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted Riddle's plea and has ordered the preparation of a presentence investigation report. A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the final sentence based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory considerations.
Riddle is currently held by the United States Marshals Service awaiting sentencing. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lewis M. Reagan.
