Trevor Sands, a 51-year-old resident of Culver City, California, was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison for his involvement in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. The sentencing took place on May 1, 2025, in Lincoln, Nebraska. United States District Judge Susan Bazis presided over the case. After serving his prison term, Sands will undergo three years of supervised release.
The investigation into Sands' activities was conducted by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force. Authorities discovered that Sands was involved in mailing methamphetamine packages to individuals in Nebraska. A significant breakthrough occurred on May 13, 2022, when investigators intercepted a package at the Ulysses Post Office containing half a pound of methamphetamine. A cooperating witness confirmed that Sands had shipped the package from California.
Further investigations between May and September 2022 led to the interception of three more packages sent from California. Surveillance footage showed Sands mailing at least one of these packages. The Nebraska State Patrol Crime Lab verified that each package contained methamphetamine weighing between one-quarter pound and one pound.
On February 8, 2023, authorities executed a search warrant at Sands' home in Culver City. During the search, they found methamphetamine on the premises. Sands confessed to distributing methamphetamine and collaborating with others to send drug packages to Nebraska.
The investigation involved collaboration between multiple agencies including the Lincoln/Lancaster County Drug Task Force, the United States Postal Inspection Service, and the Los Angeles Police Department.
