Jorge Ibarra, a resident of Palm Beach County, Florida, has been sentenced to 24 months in federal prison for cyberstalking two individuals over nearly three years. The sentencing took place today in Miami under U.S. District Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks after Ibarra pled guilty earlier this year to two counts of cyberstalking.
Court documents revealed that from January 31, 2022, to November 11, 2024, Ibarra used electronic communication services and interstate systems to harass and intimidate Victim 1. His actions reportedly placed the victim in fear of death and serious bodily harm.
In another similar case from March 4, 2023, through October 30, 2024, Ibarra targeted Victim 2 using cross-state electronic communications designed to cause fear of death and serious injury. These communications were persistent and threatening.
Ibarra was indicted in December 2024 and admitted guilt on February 19, 2025, during a hearing with Judge Middlebrooks in West Palm Beach. Notably, there was no written plea agreement involved.
The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Hayden P. O’Byrne for the Southern District of Florida alongside acting Special Agent in Charge Brett Skiles of the FBI's Miami Field Office.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI Miami’s Palm Beach Resident Agency while Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Dispoto led the prosecution.
