A Hagerhill, Kentucky man, Jason Ryan Campbell, aged 46, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the production and possession of child pornography. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Danny Reeves on Thursday.
According to Campbell's plea agreement, law enforcement discovered two videos on his phone showing him and a minor victim engaged in sexual conduct. Additional videos and photos of child pornography were also found on his device.
Federal law mandates that Campbell serve at least 85 percent of his sentence. Following his release, he will be under lifetime supervision by the U.S. Probation Office.
The sentencing was announced by Paul McCaffrey, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Olivia Olson, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Louisville Field Office; and Phillip J. Burnett Jr., Commissioner of the Kentucky State Police.
The investigation into Campbell's activities was conducted by the FBI and Kentucky State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Blankenship is prosecuting the case.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project coordinates federal, state, and local resources to locate and prosecute individuals who exploit children online while identifying and rescuing victims.
