Attorney General Dave Sunday and Clearfield County District Attorney Ryan Sayers have announced the graduation of eight individuals from the LETI program. This initiative, administered by the Office of Attorney General, offers treatment as an alternative to criminal prosecution for eligible participants.
The graduates, who were facing criminal charges, chose to participate in the LETI program and successfully completed all its requirements. They were honored at a ceremony attended by Attorney General Sunday, District Attorney Sayers, and local law enforcement and community leaders.
“These graduates have made the difficult decision to face their challenges head-on, and I commend them for doing the work to complete the LETI program,” said Attorney General Sunday. “We must embrace redemption, and empower and support people dealing with substance abuse struggles.”
Jaden, one of the graduates, shared her experience with the program after a DUI incident two years ago. She credited rehab and counseling through LETI for her recovery and has been sober for nearly two years.
District Attorney Sayers highlighted that the LETI program has a nearly 50 percent success rate among participants and noted its significant benefits to the community.
Christopher Grunthaner, Executive Director of Clearfield-Jefferson Drug and Alcohol Commission, described the graduates as a “beacon of hope” for others struggling with substance abuse disorder.
The Office of Attorney General plans to announce later this month which will be the 31st and 32nd counties to implement the LETI program.
