A Dominican national, Yonelin Manuel Baez Soto, has pleaded guilty in federal court in Boston to the charge of illegally reentering the United States after deportation. The plea was entered before U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper, who has set the sentencing date for August 6, 2025.

Baez Soto, aged 30, was indicted by a federal Grand Jury in March 2025. His previous removal from the United States occurred in November 2020 following his conviction for a felony narcotics offense in Essex Superior Court and multiple counts of misuse of a Social Security number and aggravated identity theft in U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Despite his removal, Baez Soto reentered the country without permission at an unspecified time after November 2020.

The unlawful reentry charge carries potential penalties including up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine reaching $250,000. Following any sentence served, Baez Soto will face deportation once again. Sentencing decisions are made by a federal district court judge based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley alongside Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston. Assistant U.S. Attorney David Cutshall is responsible for prosecuting this case.
