Sonia is a transactional commercial real estate attorney known for her strategic counsel and extensive experience across a broad range of asset classes. Over the course of her career, she has represented major developers, retailers, hospitality groups, family offices, and institutional investors in some of the most complex and high-value real estate transactions across the United States, and within New York City.
Sonia has built a nationally recognized practice focused on acquisitions, dispositions, ground and space leases, financing, and development. Her client roster includes some of the world’s largest retail brands, developers, private equity groups, REITs, and family offices. Among her many notable deals are the $1.3 billion acquisition of a portfolio of data centers across 18 U.S. jurisdictions, and acquisitions of several hundreds of million-dollar office buildings, including a $600 million Class A office tower in Oakland, California.
Sonia has also served as lead counsel on landmark projects in New York City, including mixed-use developments in DUMBO, Brooklyn, Hudson Yards, and Times Square, luxury residential towers, and large-scale retail and entertainment destinations, and national transactions involving a variety of asset classes. Her approach blends strategic insight with practical execution, consistently earning her recognition as a top attorney in publications such as Best Lawyers in America, Commercial Observer, and Crain’s New York Business.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sonia is deeply committed to mentoring and empowering emerging real estate professionals. As a longtime member of WX, Sonia served as president from 2019 to 2022, following earlier roles as vice president and board director. She was formerly a co-chair of the organization’s Mentoring Committee where she played a leading role in creating and developing the mentoring program as it is today. She served on the WX Charitable Fund Board leading efforts to support WX’s charitable partnerships with NEW and Project Destined and lead the organization of the annual WX Golf and Tennis Outing.
