Sapulpa woman receives 20-year sentence for second degree murder in Indian Country

A woman from Sapulpa has received a sentence for Second Degree Murder occurring in Indian Country, as announced by U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson. Christin Brianna Kelley, aged 35, will serve 240 months in prison with an additional five years of supervised release.

The incident took place on January 9, 2024, at around 4:00 a.m. Kelley and the victim, Isaac Smith, were in a car parked at a gas station in Sand Springs when Kelley shot Smith multiple times, resulting in his death. The firearm used in the shooting was found in a nearby trash can.

Kelley, recognized as a citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, will be held in custody until she is transferred to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI, Sand Springs Police Department, and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Eric O. Johnston and Stephen Flynn.
