United States Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell has announced the sentencing of Elver Cerecedo-Tellez, a 30-year-old Mexican national, for illegal reentry into the United States after prior deportation. This federal offense culminated in sentencing on April 29, 2025, by U.S. District Judge Camela C. Theeler.
Cerecedo-Tellez has been sentenced to time served and has been ordered to be removed from the country. His indictment for illegal reentry after deportation was issued by a federal grand jury in February 2025, followed by a guilty plea on March 21, 2025.
Originally deported to Mexico in 2018, Cerecedo-Tellez was found back in the United States in May 2024. The act of reentering the country post-deportation is classified as a felony.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted the investigation, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin Schroeder led the prosecution. Following the sentencing, Cerecedo-Tellez was handed over to the U.S. Marshals Service.
