U.S. District Judge Stephen R. Clark sentenced Ahdaejay Britton to 130 months in prison for his involvement in a violent carjacking in 2023. The incident took place on May 8, 2023, when Britton, now 20, and a juvenile accomplice, targeted a victim driving a Mazda 3 into a parking garage on Lindell Boulevard. Britton approached the victim, seized him from behind, and drew a handgun, demanding the victim's keys, cell phone, and wallet. He then handed the keys to the juvenile, and both fled in the stolen vehicle.

Authorities located the car on New Halls Ferry Road where the juvenile was found in the driver's seat, and Britton was discovered in a nearby business. A .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol and the victim's phone were retrieved from the Mazda. Britton pleaded guilty to charges of carjacking and possession and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

The investigation was conducted by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and the St. Louis County Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Martin prosecuted the case.

The proceedings form part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence, enhancing community safety. The program emphasizes fostering community trust, supporting preventive community organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and tracking results.
