On April 30, Denzil Olajuwon Stewart, 30, received a sentence of 144 months in federal prison, as determined by U.S. District Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks. His sentence will be followed by five years of supervised release. Stewart was convicted for selling 276.7 grams of pure methamphetamine.
Law enforcement officers observed Stewart on December 28, 2023. He was seen driving from his Vero Beach home in a white Porsche SUV to another location approximately 30 minutes away, where he sold 276.7 grams of methamphetamine. The methamphetamine was contained in a plastic shopping bag, which had Stewart's fingerprints.
A jury found Stewart guilty of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, and distribution of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.
U.S. Attorney Hayden P. O'Byrne for the Southern District of Florida, Special Agent in Charge Deanne L. Reuter of the DEA, Miami Field Division, and Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers publicly made the announcement.
The case was investigated by DEA Port Saint Lucie and the Indian River County Sheriff's Office. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christopher Hudock and Michael Porter were responsible for prosecuting the case.
