Acting United States Attorney Matthew R. Molsen announced that Robert Johnson, 40, from Omaha, Nebraska, received a sentence in federal court for drug trafficking and firearm possession charges. United States District Judge Brian C. Buescher sentenced Johnson to 240 months for drug trafficking and an additional 60 months for firearm possession. The sentence totals 300 months. Additionally, $7,000 was forfeited as drug proceeds. Following his release, Johnson will undergo five years of supervised release with no possibility of parole.
The investigation began on January 17, 2023, when the Omaha DEA received an anonymous tip about Johnson's involvement in selling fentanyl and methamphetamine. A federal search on April 19, 2023, at Johnson's residence, which he shared with codefendant Whitney Washington, led to the recovery of drugs, a 9mm handgun, drug proceeds, and trafficking paraphernalia. Further investigations revealed Johnson and Tijuana L. Johnson were sending narcotics from Arizona to Omaha for distribution.
Codefendant Tijuana L. Johnson had previously been sentenced to 120 months for conspiracy to distribute drugs, while Whitney Washington received a 63-month sentence for similar charges.
The case was jointly investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
