Mexican national sentenced to 57 months for meth distribution in Nebraska

Acting United States Attorney Matthew R. Molsen announced that a man from Sinaloa, Mexico, has been sentenced in a federal court in Omaha, Nebraska, for drug distribution. Martin Omar Rodriguez Vega was sentenced to 57 months in prison on April 23, 2025, for distributing over 50 grams of pure methamphetamine. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Brian C. Buescher. In addition to the prison term, Rodriguez Vega will serve a five-year term of supervised release following his release from prison. The federal system does not allow for parole.

The case dates back to September 16, 2022, when an undercover trooper from the Nebraska State Patrol orchestrated a methamphetamine purchase. The trooper liaised with a contact in Mexico, who instructed them to travel to Hickman, Nebraska, for the transaction. At this location, Rodriguez Vega met the trooper and provided 420 grams of pure methamphetamine.

This case was investigated by the Nebraska State Patrol and the Lincoln Police Department, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
