Newark, N.J. - A new federal task force has been established to protect election integrity in the District of New Jersey. U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, Alina Habba, announced the creation of the Election Integrity Task Force, which will be composed of federal prosecutors collaborating with law enforcement from the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and other federal agencies. This coordinated effort is in response to directives from the President’s Executive Order on March 25, 2025, concerning election security.
The task force aims to enhance information sharing among federal, state, and local officials to improve the removal of ineligible voters from state lists. It also prioritizes the investigation and prosecution of election crimes, such as voter registration fraud, fraudulent ballot casting, voting by non-citizens, multiple voting in a single election, and foreign nationals contributing funds to U.S. elections.
Efforts will also be made to ensure compliance with the National Voter Registration Act and the Help America Vote Act regarding voter list maintenance. U.S. Attorney Habba emphasized the commitment to safeguarding election integrity and ensuring all elections adhere to federal laws. She stated, "The Election Integrity Task Force will take all appropriate steps to achieve that integrity and will vigorously pursue anyone who violates or attempts to violate federal laws designed to safeguard elections."
Concerns regarding election-related crimes can be reported to the U.S. Attorney’s Office Hotline at (888) 636-6596 or via an online complaint at https://tips.fbi.gov/home.
