Max Misch, a 42-year-old resident of Bennington, Vermont, has been found guilty by a jury of two counts of misdemeanor possession of large-capacity ammunition feeding devices. The decision came after a one-day trial in Vermont Superior Court, Bennington Criminal Division.
The legal proceedings against Misch were initiated by the Attorney General’s Office in February 2019, following a criminal investigation led by the Vermont State Police, with support from the Bennington Police Department.
Attorney General Clark expressed gratitude to the jury stating, “I want to thank the jury for their service in carefully considering the law and facts in this case.” The Attorney General also acknowledged the contribution of law enforcement partners, noting, “I also want to thank our law enforcement partners for their assistance with the investigation, whose work was instrumental in bringing this case to a successful resolution.”
Following the verdict, Judge Jennifer Barrett ordered that Mr. Misch remain released under certain conditions until his sentencing. The sentence for the charge could include a maximum of one year of imprisonment, a fine up to $500, or both.
The court is expected to schedule a sentencing hearing within the next 60 days.
