Marc H. Silverman, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, has announced a prison sentence for Quinn Mooring in connection with a gun trafficking scheme. Mooring, aged 43 and a resident of New Haven, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport to 24 months of imprisonment, followed by two years of supervised release.

Court documents and statements reveal that in March 2021, ATF Task Force officers discovered Mooring's involvement in receiving firearms from Marquis Jerome Pollard in South Carolina and selling them in Connecticut. A controlled purchase of a 9mm Glock handgun and a drum magazine was made from Mooring and Pollard for $1,500 on April 19, 2021, in New Haven. Investigators also bought 9mm ammunition from Mooring on April 22, 2021.

Mooring's criminal history includes state convictions for felony robbery, unlawful restraint, and failure to appear offenses. Federal law prohibits individuals previously convicted of a felony offense from possessing firearms or ammunition that has traveled in interstate or foreign commerce.

Mooring was arrested on a federal criminal complaint on June 14, 2021. He pleaded guilty on January 13, 2022, to unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Released on a $50,000 bond, he must report to prison on June 18.

Marquis Jerome Pollard, who also pleaded guilty, was sentenced to eight years in prison on February 27, 2023.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), West Haven Police Department, New Haven Police Department, Beaufort Police Department, and Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Konstantin Lantsman prosecuted the case under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an evidence-based initiative aimed at reducing violent crime.
