Salvadoran national pleads guilty to illegal reentry in U.S. court

A Salvadoran national, Jose Alfredo Jimenez-Centeno, 72, pleaded guilty on April 22, 2025, to the illegal reentry of a removed alien. This follows his previous deportation from the United States on August 20, 1996, which is a violation of Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a).

Jimenez-Centeno could face a maximum prison term of two years, a fine of up to $250,000, and supervised release for up to one year. Additionally, a mandatory assessment fee of $100 is applicable. Due to a prior felony conviction, he may also receive a sentencing enhancement of 20 years.

The investigation was conducted by the United States Customs and Border Protection. The case prosecution is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Rachal Cassagne and Jon Maestri from the General Crimes Unit.
