A Brazilian man residing in Massachusetts has admitted to charges related to selling firearms without the necessary license, federal authorities reported. On April 18, 2025, Gideoni De Oliveira Moutinho, 32, entered a guilty plea in a Boston federal court on conspiracy and illegal firearms dealing charges. Sentencing is scheduled for May 22, 2025, before U.S. District Court Judge Leo T. Sorokin.
The charges include one count of conspiracy to deal firearms without a license and one count of engaging in this illegal business. De Oliveira Moutinho was initially arrested and charged on September 17, 2024.
Investigations revealed that between January 2, 2024 and August 30, 2024, De Oliveira Moutinho sold seven firearms over six transactions for cash. In February 2024, he also collaborated with another individual to facilitate one of these sales.
Each charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. If sentenced, the defendant faces deportation after serving his sentence. The federal district court judge will determine the sentencing following the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.
