A federal grand jury has indicted a Dominican national, Santo Beato Aybar-Aybar, for allegedly reentering the United States illegally after deportation. Aybar-Aybar, residing in Lawrence, Massachusetts, faces one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. He was apprehended on March 23, 2025, and is currently in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. A future court appearance in Boston is scheduled.

The charging documents state that Aybar-Aybar was deported on or about September 21, 2021, but allegedly returned to the U.S. without authorization thereafter. If convicted, Aybar-Aybar could face a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a potential fine of up to $250,000. Upon serving his sentence, deportation could follow. The sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge, guided by the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.

The announcement was jointly made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, the Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric L. Hawkins of the Major Crime Unit is responsible for prosecuting the case.

It is important to note that the allegations outlined in the charging documents are yet unproven, and the defendant remains presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
