A Dominican national has been indicted for illegal reentry into the United States after being deported. Carlos Yuniol Pimentel-Ortiz, 38, faces one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. He is scheduled to appear in federal court at a future date.
The indictment claims that Pimentel-Ortiz was deported from the U.S. on or about November 7, 2023, and illegally returned to the country without authorization. He was located in the U.S. on March 21, 2025.
If convicted, the charge could result in a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine up to $250,000. Deportation would follow any sentence served. Sentencing is determined by a federal district court judge according to the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston, made the announcement. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert E. Richardson of the Major Crimes Unit.
The charging documents entail only accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
