Amanda Stowers, a 40-year-old resident of Garvin County, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 180 months in federal prison for sexually abusing a minor. This was announced by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester. The charges stem from an investigation initiated by the Stratford Police Department in April 2020.

A federal Grand Jury indicted Stowers on May 4, 2021, on three counts of sexual abuse of a minor. The investigation, conducted by the FBI and Stratford Police, revealed Stowers had assaulted the victim between April 20, 2017, and April 19, 2020. The federal jurisdiction is due to the victim being a member of the Chickasaw Nation and the crimes occurring within its boundaries.

Stowers pleaded guilty on September 10, 2024, admitting to the assaults within the mentioned dates. At the sentencing on April 15, 2025, U.S. District Judge Jodi W. Dishman imposed the 180-month prison term, followed by five years of supervised release. Judge Dishman emphasized the serious nature of the offense in her sentencing remarks.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Arvo Mikkanen prosecuted the case, a result of the cooperative investigation by the FBI Oklahoma City Field Office and the Stratford Police Department. Further details are available in public court filings.
