A Chippewa County man, Aaron Jarrett, 36, will face trial on four counts of First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and one count of Kidnapping. These charges stem from an alleged sexual assault of a woman in 2016, according to Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Jarrett was recently extradited from Washington to Chippewa County with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service.

Attorney General Dana Nessel commented, "Because of Operation Survivor Justice, Mr. Jarrett will finally stand trial after nearly nine years. My Department remains committed to using this vital partnership to ensure that those facing serious charges are located, apprehended, and held accountable."

The accusations relate to an incident that allegedly occurred in Chippewa County in May 2016, leading to charges filed by the Chippewa County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office that same year.

Operation Survivor Justice, focused on extradition efforts, received funding last year from a $1 million state appropriation. It is a collaboration between the Michigan Department of Attorney General, local county prosecutors, and the U.S. Marshals Service to address outstanding sexual assault warrants by locating, apprehending, and returning fugitives to Michigan.

No trial date has been established for Jarrett's case.

Readers are reminded that a criminal charge is only an allegation, and the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The Department of Attorney General does not provide booking photos.
