A man convicted of staging car accidents and committing insurance fraud has been sentenced to 18 months in prison. U.S. District Judge Henry E. Autrey delivered the sentence on Monday, also ordering restitution of $107,951.

Between September 2021 and January 2023, Adrian Peebles orchestrated auto accidents, primarily during night hours and in isolated locations to reduce detection. Consistently, Peebles reported injuries, visiting emergency rooms with complaints suggesting he needed costly tests. These tests never revealed specific injuries. According to his plea agreement, Peebles demanded insurance payments be made directly to him instead of the medical providers, subsequently failing to settle his medical expenses. His fraudulent activities resulted in a loss of $107,951 to two insurance companies.

Adrian Peebles, aged 32, had pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud in January.

The FBI conducted the investigation, while assistant U.S. Attorney John Ware led the prosecution.
